Redskins signed DL Ricky Jean-Francois to a three-year, $9 million deal.

The deal includes $4 million guaranteed, and could be worth as much as $11.25 million if Jean-Francois reaches certain incentives. It's a nice chunk of change for a player who got released by the Colts just three days ago. Jean-Francois had a negative Pro Football Focus rating in both of his seasons with the Colts, and generated only 5.5 sacks in 26 games. He was drafted by new Redskins GM Scot McCloughan in San Francisco

Why? I would rather have had Jarvis Jenkins. Don't like this move at all.

This means Bowen is as good as gone. So we have Hatch, RJF, Baker, ad Golsten. Does this mean we are not going after Ordrick? Wow.

i dont have an issue with signing him as far as what he brings to us . a rotational guy throughout the d/line but the guarantee is a little high for me

and as i have said before you almost always over pay in FA

Like I said before - with the new GM there will be moves that will not initially be well received by the fans & not in sync with people on forums such as this one. The wait & see approach (as someone else indicated) is the best one. You can't judge any of the moves on their own nor at the time they are made. Whether they are good or bad will be determined 2+ years from now. You have to trust the current FO & I do for the time being based on the track record of the GM.

Throw in the fact that the skins were told they have to spend some money this year ( as funny as that sounds skins being told to spend ) or risk being taxed by the league

I can live with this deal not my money

Agree, but this is NOT the type of contract given out in DC normally......slight overpay ...maybe...but sertainly acceptable...

These cuts could signify a plan to be a little more aggressive in free agency than previously thought. Why else take the dead money cap hit if you're not going to do something with the space created.

I'm stopping at this post to reply. I totally agree. This one is a head scratcher for sure but in GMSM we trust so I'll wait and see with you

Ricky Jean Francois addresses some Needs for Redskins

he is ranked 26th for all d/lineman in the nfl . only hatcher was better on the skins so he is playing better and is cheaper then who he is replacing

Interesting, wonder how that ranking is done. I think I read somewhere that he had 6 pass knockdowns last year. I believe that represents the number of pass deflections for the entire DL for the years 2012-2014. That has always bugged me, why our team never knocked down passes.
