I am pretty sure we all thought it, but watching the hawks beat Khabi last year he looked slow. Last night he looked terrible. Rebound control, lost the net a few times. I think he had around 75% save rate most of the game. at one point shots were 41-21 hawks, ended 43-25. I dont know if they counted the 16 blocked shots Tampa Bay had in that total, I know those two periods the hawks kept a team without a shot on goal they had a ton of blocked shots.

How are those kids doing in Rockford?

They really need a better backup than Khabi - he's cooked

Handzus out with an upper body injury that might sideline him for a while.

Jeremy Morin and Brad Mills up from Rockford. Ben Smith a healthy scratch. I'm guessing Q not happy at all with Smith on the PK, and rightfully so. Mills next up in that role. We'll see how it goes.

Kruger to center the second line with Saad and Kane. Morin to play with Shaw and Bickell. Mills to play with Pirri and Bollig.

I think it's safe to say that the Hawks penalty kill can be officially called a problem.

I'll call the pp a problem too as long as Sharp is at the point. Way too many chances against. Special teams are looking like they might be a problem. Still early, but I really don't like what I'm seeing on the pp1 unit overall. As long as the PK is going to sit back and be passive without trying to generate a turnover , they're going to get lit up imo.

Well, six games in a row now with a power play goal. That's not too shabby.

But I agree with Doug...I don't like Sharp at the point.

I didn't watch enough of the Wild game, but tonight vs the Sens I saw the Hawks with a 1-3-1 setup on the power play, which was different for them. Lots of good solid chances tonight and great puck movement and passing on the power play.

I liked it.

I must say, I love to bash Bollig as often as I can, but he's actually looked good (as opposed to be being a liability on the ice) in the last few games. He even seemed to have some jump as well.

Must be nice becoming an instant millionare. LOL!

I like the extension. 2 years at $4 million total. Nice. Nothing long term. Nothing outrageous money-wise. Good deal for both him and the Hawks for a grinder/agitator type of player.

Blackhawks trade for goaltender LaBarbera - Chicago Blackhawks Blog - ESPN Chicago

Got a goalie for Rockford with some NHL experience. We will see if he gets brought up after a few games.

I'm sure everyone can agree that no one wants to see Kent Simpson as the starting goalie. And the Ice Hogs are stuck with two EHL goalies right now that are not ready for even the AHL level.

Wondering if Simpson goes back to Rockford and Labarbera gets to back up Antti until Crawford returns in another week or so.

PS Has Khabibulin returned to Russia? Haven't heard a word about his "progress" on his injury at all. Amazing. He probably spends the remainder of the year on LTIR.
