You know, now that you mention it, I had heard they were using other breweries to meet demand. My bad.:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

That's a good problem to have!! I was confused because the people who gave it to me said it was from NC; apparently things are going well for them if they're already subbing out production.

Damn if NC isn't becoming the best microbrew scene in the country. Hi-Wire, Big Boss, Highland, Natty Green's, Foothills, Green Man, and big boys like Sierra Nevada have opened up shop there.

Pliny the Younger, which is a nice beer to try a couple times, but far from a drinkable 13% IPA. Notorious is absolutely better.

The Elder is drinkable as fuck. I always chug the first one before I realize I should taste the second one more. It's just soooo good.

Oskar Blues, headquartered in Colorado, brews in NC too.

Well, just this year it took third at GABF. And it has been around for ten years so that right there should tell you something. So there is that. And any BJCP trained person would tell you that PtE is the standard.

Right... 3rd. Appreciate you proving my point.

I've gone through BJCP training.

Pliny is a great IIPA and a pioneer in that field. It held top dog status for a long time. Today there are lots of IIPAs that are as good or better. Have you had any of the other beers I've mentioned?

Miller Lite won gold at GABF, and it has been around since 1975, also a pioneer in the style. Hell everything you said about PtE could be said for Miller Lite.

Ballast Point Sculpin. Ballast Point finally made its way to Wisconsin. Scored a six pack for $15, first sip says it was worth every penny. A lot of the overhyped beers that I have tasted are just that, overhauled, Sculpin, not so much, probably deserves more praise. Outstanding beer.

They have Grapefruit and Habanero variants too. Grapefruit is pretty tasty adding more of that citrus flavor. With the Habanero, I've found people either love it or hate it. I hate it. Way too hot to be drinkable for me.

Hopslam is one of those beers that those in the MidWest and East seem to love, and we on the West Coast just don't get. I've had Hopslam a dozen times or so and "like" it super fresh. It's a tasty beer. Sweet and hoppy within a month of bottling. After that though, those dry hops are gone.

I suppose if I could get it through distribution I'd like it more, but considering the distro + trading for it (add a week) the hop character just fades too much for my liking.

Other beers I see this way, Nugget Nectar (meh) and 3 Floyd's Zombie Dust. ZD very fresh is a ridiculously good dry hopped Pale Ale, but give it a few weeks and it's incredibly average. That's how dry hopping works. Out of 10+ Zombie Dust bottles I've had, 2 were very good. The rest had already faded.

Podunkparte suggested this, so I got it, and it's amazing.
