Chappie

Pretty entertaining, but nothing to get excited about. Awesome fx/cgi & action, but the acting was atrocious. The characters were really odd, and the plot was a bit farfetched. It could have been so much better...

Syfy movie? I searched for it and two squeals came up for it.
Canadian movie released in the UK, and some parts of the US. I wrote a review on it in the Horror Movies thread.

Yea I plan to watch the sequels as well. @jakedog56 recommended the first one & the sequels to me in the first place. He said the sequels diminish in quality a little, but still worth the watch.

Katharine Isabelle is attractive. Have you seen American Mary?

I saw this pile of crappie at the theater. I agree that the FX/CGI was cool. I found Chappie to be flat out annoying. The way they had him talking. I can't stand people who talk that way. I'm with you...It could of been a lot better. So much potential there.

The best part of the whole movie
The car jacking scenes were fucking hilarious!

Yea the gangsta crap was way over the top ridiculous. It annoyed me too. And then when Chappie beat up the Aussie dude I was thinking he would have killed him instead of just rag-dolling him around the office. It was kinda anti-climactic. Then it flat out lost me when they moved Deon's conscience into the robot... That's just flat out impossible. Then they try to make us feel bad for the fucktards that jacked chappie in the first place. They could have come up with a better ending than that... All around disappointing.

Watched "It's Such A Beautiful Day" when I was home sick.
I thought it was tolerable and the ending redeemed it somewhat, but it's pretty out there and not for everybody...especially if you like action and truly coherent plot.

Also finished/rewatched "Hubert Selby Jr.:It/ll Be Better Tomorrow" and really enjoyed it, but it's only worthwhile to those who have read and enjoyed his fiction IMHO. Counterculture luminaries like Lou Reed and Henry Rollins as well as film types such as Ellen Burstyn, Darren Aronofsky, Jared Leto, and James Remar share their remembrances of a fascinating author.

Fast & Furious 7

Just finished watching it. Pretty good movie. Has the usual amount of cheese that we have come to expect from this film franchise. But if you can get past those ridiculous parts, its a pretty cool action movie. If you have seen the previous 3-4 then you know what to expect.

Pretty cool tribute to Paul Walker at the end.

Equalizer

Not bad, not great. Ultimately, very forgettable, but still enjoyed the time I spent watching it.

This was my thought on it too.
Enjoyed the movie, but didn't even remember going to see it until I saw a preview on TV for it.

Draft Day

The Browns kicking ass on Draft Day. That's some damn good fiction writing there.

I saw Ex Machina yesterday, and without going into spoiler territory, I am tired of people making good science fiction movies and completely fucking up the ending. It seems like that's happened a lot recently (Interstellar and Edge of Tomorrow come to mind).

I didn't think Interstellar's ending was terrible, but I did just see Ex Machina today and I agree the ending was silly. They really should have ended it about 5 minutes before they did and it would have been fine. Other than that, good flick though.
