I think the Rockies may well have been one of the last 5 teams to be guessed if you hadn't kind of forced the issue with the 90s expansion teams.

Not all my jokes are as brilliant as most of them. Even I whiff on jokes from time to time.

That actually wasn't too far off. I literally was going to say that that sounded like something Brian Holtzman would say. So maybe it is me that is off today. I respect the effort though. It's a noble pursuit mixing in jokes and references when you know the majority of people won't get them.

I've probably made a dozen Brady Bunch references over the years, knowing full well they would go unappreciated by virtually everyone, but sometimes you gotta do it for yourself.

I think the Rockies may well have been one of the last 5 teams to be guessed if you hadn't kind of forced the issue with the 90s expansion teams.

That was how I “figured it out”. There have been many more playoff slots available for the newer teams to take advantage of. Which opens up the field to the lessor teams who didn’t exist during the “World Series only” years. The Rays are a successful organization (which shows with their placement here), but they have never won it all, and non-wonks would likely be very surprised to see the level of success they have actually enjoyed. The Rox are a somewhat unsuccessful team that has basically existed entirely in a game where 25% of teams make it to the post season every year. And the Mets have had about half of their existence in that environment.

For the expansion teams to have such pitiful representation having their entire existence in the expanded playoff era is embarrassing for them.
