Florida Panthers to Portland?

The Panthers have made the playoffs 4 times in their 20-year existence. As a result, they have a hard time attracting fans and selling tickets to games. For the 2013-14 season, the Panthers ranked 28th in league attendance. To make matters worse, their cable TV audience only reaches 4000 households, which has an effect on sponsorship deals. Rink board signage is less appealing to sponsors because their brand fails to make an impression on a large amount of fans. Of course, a winning team may bring people to the game and spark a larger television deal, but that is easier said than done. The team does not have money to pay players; they struggle to reach the salary cap minimum. If the Panthers continue to struggle financially, Florida will lose their team.

only 4000 households?? that has to be a misprint right? where can one find these facts.....

thats a poorly worded statement ... the cable tv channel they are on has significantly more reach ... but yah ... last i saw ... 4000 people tune in on average to watch the games

ok that makes more sense to me. because the heat are on the same channel and i know they reach more than 4k....

Im surprised by the Devils. (not so much the Ducks, Ive been to California during playoff runs, its so hard to get any games on TV there)

You know where we can get canadas to compare? would be interesting to see the smaller population vs the larger ones and see the numbers

I have heard that since that person took a leak in the Portland reservoir officials do not think Portland is a viable hockey market. It seems as if they pissed away that oppurtunity.

I'm gonna put my homer hat on for a sec, but for the Sabres to be that strong despite the piss-poor product they put on the ice this year is pretty impressive.

piss poor products dont translate to live streaming online either. its just you know your in for a bad game

Often times, the ref is a dink, so put him to work during the intermission.
