Florida Panthers to Portland?

Heard talks today there might be some consideration of moving the Panthers to Portland. One of Paul Allen's associates is a huge hockey fan and apparently has been mentioning and trying to push for NHL in Portland. Talks of Panthers might be the next team to move.

I don't see it happening, not since Vinny Viola bought the team

I think expansion is going to happen at some point, that's when you'll see Portland get their own team, if that's the case

Huge 'Ockey fan here and a Portland native...Would love to see hockey here and think it would thrive to, but I don't think an aging Paul Allen would go there.

Besides....there are NO Panthers in these parts, just Cougars!

I don't think the Panthers are going anywhere. New owner seems committed to spending money, and spending it in FLA. Honestly the Panthers have some good young talent. Barkov is a the real deal man. Get that kid some wingers. Huberdeau is having a bit of a sophomore slump right now, but still incredibly talented. Viola told Tallon he was allowing the team to spend to the cap. The issue there being they'll have to pay more than perhaps a team like New York or Toronto that are "destination" spots, or other contenders. So go ahead and pay to the cap, but it'll involve over paying scrubs.
