So when does Kapler get clipped?
Here's an interesting question? How many good starting pitchers have come through the Phillies "system" in the last 50 years? I'm skipping Nola because he was already a polished product in college who they fast tracked to the majors. So the only one I can think of is Cole Hamels. Schilling, Lee, Halladay, Carlton all came from other organizations. Brett Myers? Dick Ruthven? Larry Christenson? Pat Combs (lol) I can't even remember any good pitchers we traded away.
Yeah I posed the question on the mlb board and it looks like it is possible that the Brewers and Twins have been more inept at developing major league pitchers, so there's that......Robin Roberts, Curt Simmons, Chris Short. Oh, sorry, wrong era.
Maddon too soft. We need a boss type!

Word! I could see the hitting bouncing back and being good next year but man, those last couple months they were rolling with Jason Vargas and Drew Smyly in their rotation! And it looks like they swung and missed on Arrieta (unlike left handed batters who had an OPS of over .900 against him). I guess they were a year early on Charlie Morton too. He's starting in the playoffs tonight. They really need like 5 or 6 starting pitchers before next year and I have no idea where they will come from. Nola is the only sure thing and maybe they do that Tampa thing where they have an "opener" for a couple innings then bring in Vinnie V. I guess Eflin and Arrieta will be back but I have no confidence in themDoesn't really matter who the manager is, this team needs starting pitching.

That Tommy Joseph was a nice young man. Why can't we get him back? He's probably doing something All-American like working in a bar or as a plumber's apprentice, sending care packages to the troops. Maybe he joined the pipe-fitters union. Wherever he is, I'm sure they could lure him back. While I understand that people are frustrated with Hoskins, I find it baffling that a lot of people who seem to want him run out of town yesterday are still hoping for Darin Ruf's proud return.
Klentak keeps job. He will decide Kaplers fate.
Kapler can make a great team mediocre!I get the feeling that they’ll keep Kapler because Middleton and Klentak will rationalize, “well, he did OK, but we’ll do more dumpster dives to get him better pitching, and we’ll be fine”.
