Ok, the Cam Newton hype has to stop. You people (Mike Greenberg) are embarrassing yourselves. The guy sucks. Badly.
He's worse than Kaepernick, and Kaepernick is a bad QB. Cam is the 28th-ranked QB in the NFL right now. 28TH! Kaepernick has had more success, has been more efficient and has been just as big a threat running the ball.
245 rushing yards doesn't make you a good QB. Being 6-0 doesn't make you a good QB; you can have a good record and still suck (see Alex circa 2011 or Kaepernick circa 2012 and 2013).
People said Vince Young was one of the greatest QBs in the league when he was winning too, and those people were just as clueless as the people who say Cam is even good, much less an average one.
The Niners would trade Kaepernick for Newton in a second flat, plus San Fran would throw in their first round draft pick and a handy from Tomsula.
That's because the 49ers are ret***ed right now. Kaepernick > Cam every single year they've been in the league. And Kaepernick sucks.
Cam sucks worse. Anyone who thinks he's even an AVERAGE QB doesn't understand football.
A decent regular-season record (an easy schedule to boot) doesn't mean you have a good QB.
I'm not a fan of either of them, but right now Kaepernick looks like hot garbage, and Newton is playing pretty well.
Newton is an MVP candidate and carrying a team that without him likely wouldn't win a game. Newton is a top 10 NFL QB and anyone with any actual football sense sees that.
Peyton Manning is 6-0 too, and he's playing like s**t.
Saying they wouldn't win a game without him is asinine. They have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and they played 6 teams with a combined 15-26 record. They haven't even played a team with a winning record yet. You think they would've lost BOTH the Jags & Texans with a backup QB?
This is the most baffling example of undeserved hype since Vince Young, Donnovan McNabb and Michael Vick were racking up pro bowl appearances.
Anyone who says Cam has been playing at even an AVERAGE level this year is terrible at analyzing football.
So absolutely every football analyst everywhere is terrible? Got it. I should take your word.
Since pretty much every analyst is talking about him as one of the top few MVP candidates, they all must be on crack. You can't speak for every single analyst. But yeah, the ones who say Cam is playing great are probably on crack. He's not even having an AVERAGE year.
So Mike Greenberg has no clue what he's talking about.
But they did the same thing with Michael Vick and Vince Young. Those were QBs who were "revolutionary" and were going to change the game of football, and they made the pro bowl almost every year. It was nonsense; they sucked for the most part. They went on hot streaks, as a lot of running QBs do, but defenses always figure them out (Kaepernick, RGIII and so on). And Cam isn't even on a hot streak! He's horribly inefficient against a weak schedule so far.
Wining =/= good QB play (see Peyton).
Well, to be fair most sports analysts have their heads so far up their ass they can taste their shampoo.Since pretty much every analyst is talking about him as one of the top few MVP candidates, they all must be on crack.
