I'm a Bronco hater, no doubts about it. .but when it comes to fantasy football, i don't allow that to cloud my judgement. I may say I'll never tale a donkey, but if there's one sorting there, and value to be had. .I'll do it no problems. CJ is this year's Montee Ball..there NOTHING special about him. .he's exceedingly average at every aspect of the game. At some point, they'll need greatness, and they'll turn elsewhere. At some point Peyton breaks down and the running lanes close, they'll need someone who can get his own yards, not just what's blocked. He will lose his job, I'd bet my AV on it for the offseason

to be fair, you were very big on ball, and were positive he was gonna be good.......why not CJ, at least he proved he can do it

Well if Peyton falls off a cliff, scratch all Broncos players off your Ff list. I'm hoping he remains good enough to keep Broncos players from being a bust.

Because Ball never got a healthy chance to prove himself, and they have much more invested in him before they give up. .he'll get another shot

If it wasn't dynasty, I'd agree with you. Guess I'm banking on Kubiak. Like what he did as OC for the Ravens, who would of thought a journey men like Forsett could be your workhorse? i'm guessing that Anderson is his next miracle. Ball meh more hype then substance, but at least he came to camp ready to compete, but so did Anderson. We shall see.:suds:

There's truth there, no doubts..but if we never saw that for Forsett..what's to keep it from being Ball, or Juwan Thompson, or Hillman, or Capri Bibbs? If the system makes the backs, than there's no guarantee any one guy is the guy..I'm staying away from them all, redraft, keeper, and dynasty. Just too much going on in Denver with the aging QB, new line, new coach...too many question marks for my liking.

But hey, I just realized this is a donkey for a donkey trade. ..they've both got the same chances of turning to coal, might as well go for it. Guess I'd rather have the RB than the 2nd WR.

Not to high on the Broncos chances myself, at least this year. However whoever Kubiak trots out as the starter, most likely ends up the workhorse for the season, barring injuries.I like Anderson chances of being that guy. He's got the best track record, he's the incumbent, and he came to camp in shape ready to hold on to his position. Also he has been better then Ball in pass protection which is no small thing.

One more thing I'd like to add, Kubiak had Matt Schaub as QB, but still was able to have a hell of a workhorse at RB, just some food for thought.

That workhorse was Arian Foster...and before that it was Doug Slaton, who was also the incumbent, and more proven. ..more proof that its the system, not the back, and I won't be buying any of them, until after week 1, at the earliest

I think you mean Steve Slaton. Interesting guy, top rookie RB in 2008, but the next year pummeled to 437 yards and 7 fumbles. Had neck surgery and was never the same. Not really a good comparison for the situation in Denver. Ball was the hot shot that stumbled and Anderson was the one to step in and produce and he's healthy and in shape.

You got any doubts going thru your mind Treff? You should have some, because logically what you say is coming doesn't seem likely.

No. .it was late and my mind was cloudy on names, but the logic is pretty simple to follow, the example was nothing more than a system that has proven anyone and everyone can be successful in it, being installed on a team without a surefire given #1, with an old QB, 4 new starting lineman (including position switches ) new coaching staff (none of these coaches have sqwat tied to any of these RB's)..and you wanna nit pick as to whether Steve Slaton was a good comparison to the situation?
.I'm not, nor would I advise anyone to go after Donkey RB's until some things settle way down there. You all wanna jump all over that beehive, be my guest, but if you can't see the danger there, don't come crying to me

Nah, I had to go back and re-read, seeing if I'd strayed way off..I followed my train of thought, but easy to see how anyone else may not have :) :suds:

Odd, last year I was singing the praises of this new heir to the RB throne in Denver, now I'm begging everyone to stay away. Can't be that extremely wrong twice in a row. ...can i?

That assertion is quite inconsistent with what CJ did the last six weeks of last season, when he rushed for 648 yards, caught 18 passes for another 131 yards, and scored 9 TDs. That production was well above average. In fact, I think he was among the most productive backs in the league over that period.

Obviously not a sure thing that Anderson starts all year, but in my opinion he is clearly the favorite to do so. In addition to his pass blocking and pass catching, he has good speed and he runs very decisively (unlike the way Ball has often run) and with good power. I think he is an excellent fit for the new ZBS.

The assertion that anything from last year means much at all this year is a little presumptive at best though isn't it? Everything last year was under a different staff, a different system, a different oline, and must importantly, their second round pick, who was very impressive the end of that previous year, was injured the entire season.
Everything has changed, coaches, system, line, a healthy Ball, and people who are just assuming one guy is going to be THE guy, I just can't understand what they're basing any of that on. Kubiak sure isn't telling anyone that, everything he says is that job is up for grabs, and its one instance where I believe that coachspeak.

IDK, from what I've heard sounds like Anderson is going be given the chance to be the workhorse.

I hope a bunch of guys pass on Anderson. I will take a chance on him with my 2nd or 3rd pick and be very happy.

That's what you got out of that? ? Not one single quote from Kubiak..just speculation from a beat reporter and on update on the assumed depth chart coming out of OTA's..something the Broncos haven't even "officially" released anyways. And even this dude says there's still a battle to be fought during tanning camp. You're hearing what you wanna hear if that's your evidence

Either way - I'd take the gamble on the trade.
And this is coming from a guy that won a league last year solely due to Manny Sanders' 2TD 3rd qtr vs Cincy.

WR TDs are nearly impossible to predict, and if CJ is even the starter for just the first half of the season, you should come out ahead in this deal.

As for the CJ vs Ball debate --- a HUGE thing that was missing from this thread was the Broncos formations/game plan change that occurred about half way through the season. Before Ball was injured, we saw a ton of 3WR sets. When CJ took over, they were running a lot of 2TE sets. Even if JT80 was just a decoy as a blocker, it makes it harder for the defense to stack against the run with 2 TEs out there.
