4/14 Farhan Zaidi (Audio)

Farhan basically says that they got Webb to agree to get outrighted on the condition that they'd let him take off if a better option for him appeared. Another team wanted him so the Dodgers held up their end of the deal and let him go.

So you're who I'm facing this week in the fantasy league, my excuse will be that I didn't get to draft my team.

I didn't draft my team either! That's why I'm last in waivers. I've made so many moves to try to fix the mistakes hahaha.

Anyways, the Dodgers already sent down Frias. Apparenly he was only brought up in case the Dodgers wanted to use a long reliever last night (since Peralta and Nicasio were unavailable). They haven't made a corresponding move yet, but we can start hoping for Liberatore or Santos now.

Dennick was DFA'd. Daniel Corcino was claimed from the Reds.

Corcino looks like he was a fairly decent prospect 2 years ago but his starter days are over and his stuff should play really well out of the bullpen. I like this acquisition.

Yeah, I don't know anything about Corcino, but from all impressions I've seen, this seems like an absolute steal. This seems like the exact opposite of the time that Colletti waived Shawn Tollesson (what a stupid move... ugh...). That move by the Reds to lose Corcino seems extra stupid because they have Kevin Gregg in their big league bullpen. That guy shouldn't even be in the bigs anymore.

Also, I got my wish and Liberatore has joined the bullpen as the third lefty.

Today has been a good day for the Dodgers and their relievers. Hopefully this continues and Kershaw throws a complete game to give the bullpen two days off in a row.

Chris Hatcher just gassed Casey McGehee at 97mph, and all I could think was:

The Chris Hatcher experiment needs to be over. He is by far the worst reliever on the team and needs to be sent down to OKC or shown the door.

Frias is throwing 96-99... that is certainly something. Now if he could really tighten up that slider.

Except for Howell, he's been on the decline since last year.

Another member of the "zero home runs" club. He's only given up 2 walks and 7 hits. Opposing hitter baBIP .412.... His xFIP is 2.81.

He's fine. You guys are hypochondriacs. In fact, none of those numbers I listed even matter because he's only thrown 5 innings.

Dodgers recall Daniel Coulombe from Triple-A Oklahoma City - True Blue LA

Coulombe was called up out of nowhere last year and he pitched pretty well. I doubt he's up with the big club for long, though.

I do have to say, I love they way the Front Office is using the option players. Every time they know they're going to DFA a starter, they do it right away to get another bat or another reliever for a few days. Colletti never made moves like this.

Yimi Garcia is a beast. I hope I get to see him in the 8th and Kenley in the 9th soon. The bullpen is not as painful as it used to be right now.

Current Bullpen:

Kenley Jansen - THE CLOSER!
Yimi Garcia - THE FUTURE CLOSER!
Chis Hatcher - The one who Dodger fans hate!
JP Howell (L) - The radio will say he's a "crafty veteran" - which means he's old and doesn't throw hard!
Adam Liberatore (L) - He's 2013's Paco Rodriguez minus the funny delivery! And... He doesn't have a neck!
Juan Nicasio - He was a shitty starter for the Rockies!
Josh Ravin - He throws 100mph!

Is it just me, or does this team have a small bullpen? Especially when the 4 and 5 starters are Bolsinger and Frias. Subtract a Heisey, add a Matt West?

I'm sorta surprised, but I guess they figure he's not better than any of the other current 7 bullpen guys, since he had to be added to the roster this weekend. It kind of goes against their depth motto but from what I seen League's velo was down a lot, so maybe they just figure he's done.

I liked League, but moving on...

Yeah, my guess is that it's also the fact that they can't option him. I wouldn't say he's worth sending any of the current members of the bullpen down, but then he has to be better than some of the other options in AAA.

Brandon League has been DFA'd.

I've hated League from Day 1, so I'm happy about it. The two players I've hated most (in terms of play) in recent memory, Juan Uribe and Brandon League both gone.

I didn't hate the trade (even in hindsight, the Dodgers didn't give up much to Seattle), but I hated the contract. 3 years, 21 million... That's a lot even if you have unlimited money...

He did a decent(ish) job last year, but still. The bullpen last year was shit. Being the 3rd best in last years' bullpen is like being the world's tallest midget. It was all Kenley, then JP Howell, then.....

long pause....

Brandon League. He's a great teammate and a cool guy. I'd love to party with him in Hawaii. But, I hate to say it, home boy was NOT worth his contract. Hence the DFA by a Front Office that is actually smart.

For what it's worth, I'd like League to accept an assignment to AAA and stick around a bit. If Yimi or whoever goes down for a spell, I think League is better than anyone waiting in the wings (as far as RH relievers who are ready to go RIGHT NOW). If not, I wish him the best on another team.

Mark my words, the next team to sign him (for nothing, while the Dodgers pay the rest), will be stoked with their restults. They'll expect nothing and get something. League is definitely something.

From the Dodgers' perspective, the way I see this is as a compliment to the current bullpen staff. League is not better than Baez, Peralta, Garcia, et al. He's decent, but those guys are just better. Since he doesn't have roster flexibility, he gets the DFA and the Dodgers stand to lose the next-best right-handed reliever that they have.

League would definitely be the next-best right-handed reliever that the Dodgers had, if he stayed in the system.
