Here are my feelings on Spoles: Overall he is a good coach. Before the big 3 era Miami was a playoff team with Wade and a bunch of guys like Jermaine O'neal and a very immature Mike Beasley. He inserted Mike Miller into the lineup against the Spurs in game 4 in 2013 with us down 2 - 1 and we ended up winning 3 out of 4 games. The year before that he matched up Battier on Ibaka and Battier lit up the Thunder and forced Ibaka out of the lane for LeBron/Wade. He used the small ball lineup very effectively against the C's, the Pacers, and the Spurs. He even had Vogel and then the great Pops sit Hibbert and Duncan at key times because of matchup problems he presented with a flawed Miami Heat team. He has gone to the finals four times.. he has won 2 titles. He isn't getting fired anytime soon. He has honestly had one bad year as a coach, this year. A year ravished with injuries and the Heat overcoming the best player in the league leaving them. He has improved a ton as a coach since he was first hired and everyone outside of the most hardcore Heat fans said "who?". I complain about him. I complained at times when Riley was the coach. We need to get better at halftime adjustments. We do. I believe he will. The thing I always want to know when someone wants a coach gone is simple... who else? What free agent coach out there is better?

Smith: With Bosh, Heat Couldve Been in Eastern Conference Finals CBS Miami

Just another reasonable mind out there who realizes the Miami’s fortunes would be different if we at least had CB - yet there will always be the one idiot in here who instead chooses to blame the coaches, give the players a free pass and fail to realize just how much not having one, but multiple key guys injured affects a teams play and how coaches coach

You can't help yourself can you......Do you not remember that with Bosh on the team, the team was still significantly under 500 for the year? There are balanced people on this board, but you are not one of them. Spolestra had a bad coaching year this year. I don't think he is a bad coach, but I don't think he is a great coach and he lacks an offensive mind as his answer for years has been helter/skelter defense and easy buckets but have not been impressed with the half court sets.

Too many people give him credit for the pre Big 3 Era. Yeah - we made the playoffs with the NBA scoring champion that year and a number 2 pick and we lost in the first round of the playoffs. Wade was a top 5 talent. They did about what everyone expected with a healty Wade. The improvement over the 15 win season was overstated.

Winning back to back titles is awesome and he deserves credit, but how much? Some would argue that if we had a half court offense we would not have blown a 15 point lead at home to the Mavericks in the critical game 5 at home in the 2010-2011 Finals where we could have taken a 3-1 lead. Some would argue that it took long enough to start Mike Miller. Let's see what Lebron and the Cavs do this year.

Again, good coach who had a bad, bad year and who probably gets too much credit.
