Stopped by Wally World after work to get some .223 and noticed they had some Federal aluminum case 9mm for $9.96 per 50 rd. box so I picked up a couple. I plan on using in my Hi Point 995 carbine, that damn thing will eat anything you feed it and keep on going. Anyone ever used any of it? Kinda curious as to how it shoots and how dirty it is. I'll try it out Tuesday, if it's worth a shit I may have to load up on it at that price.

I use it a lot in my S&W M&P45C because it is so much cheaper and in my experience the "dirty" concerns are over played IMO it's marginal. I clean my guns after each shooting session anyway so it doesn't bother me.

Good to know. I too clean my guns after each range trip so I probably am putting a bit much emphasis on the dirty aspect of it. Speaking of which, I picked up one of those bore squee-g cleaning kits a couple weeks ago and that thing is the shit. If you use the bore cleaner/polish and lube/protectant that comes with it your bore will look like a damn mirror after just a pass or two with the bore brush then the squee-g. Does a good job and saves me a good bit of time, especially on my AR.

I just use a bore snake with a very tiny bit of oil and it comes out sparkling. Honestly I think a lot of the anti aluminum movement is do to snobbery and not wanting to look like a cheap ass. Personally I could care less I'm not there to please anyone else.

Been thinking about getting the M&P 9mm as my carry weapon. Seems like a solid shooter and not too heavy when loaded.

I have a Glock 19 and the M&P45C and they are almost the identical size, the M&P is a little wider and of course only carries 8 rounds.

I very much prefer the M&P45C over the Glock (my 13 year old daughter would agree with that statement also). For a carry weapon I would strongly consider it unless you want a clip of 15 because that is the only advantage the 9mm has.

Bamabear is extremely fond of the Shield so I would take a look at it also and I think it is even slimmer.

I just bought the M&P Shield .40 from a buddy. Got it for $350. Problem is, I was anticipating getting the 9mm and ordered a bunch of ammo last night. Wifezilla says, "so buy ammo for the 40 and go buy yourself a 9mm at the gun show next week."
There's a reason I am keeping her around......

Let me know how the .40 shoots the word I heard is they are hard to zero in but I'd like to hear what you think.

one thing I will say about cheap ammo. I will shoot anything out the gun you plan to carry. Why? Because that way you know how to deal with any type of failure to feed, stove pipe, failure to clear. I'm a lot more picky when it comes to my Ed Brown 1911's. However every one of my hand guns I take down and give it the once over and clean it.

I don't think it's really any dirtier. I think it's cheaper than brass case simply because the aluminum is cheaper. You just can't save the cases for reloading.

I shot 100 rds of it out of my carbine last Tue. and didn't have any issues with it at all aside from it being a little dirtier than the Federal Champion I usually use, my trigger and bird fingers were black as shit when I got done. Not a big deal though, I think part of it is just the way that carbine is set up (simple blow back system) as it seems to expose you to more of the powder while shooting. I'll definitely be picking up some more.

My dad just bought a M&P Shield .40 and we shot it yesterday. My thoughts were:

1. Damn this is small!
2. Compared to the Sig .40 we also shot it was hard to be as accurate but not by much.
3. Fantastic size for CC.
4. Only held 6 rounds in one clip and 5 in the other.

Over all I wouldn't trade my M&P .45c for it but I liked shooting it.

Should hold 6 in one mag and 7 in the other.

I had to use a ruger speed loader to get the last round in them tho.

My dad was loading it so he might have had issues getting the last one and I didn't think about that.

My 9mm came with a 7 and an 8 rd. magazine and that last one can be a bitch to get in in both of them. My brother struggled with loading mine too.

Are you sure that's for the .40? I thought the 9mm was 6 and 7 and the .40 was 5 and 6? You lose a round for sure with the .40 in the shield.

My 9mm came with a 7 rd. w/flat butt plate and an 8 rd. with the pinky extension.
