Have to give Crest props for wanting to contribute in some form. If he isn't going to be the starting QB, maybe he can make some plays as the inside slot receiver? We'll see.

I'd hate to see him get injured playing a position outside of QB. Jarrett Brown comes to mind… Stewart used him as a big back to pick up short yardage first downs.

JB never seemed the same after suffering injury as a RB… and later as the QB…

Crest appears to be more of an athlete than a QB. this looks like writing on the wall that he will not cut it at QB and will end up being a utility player. He is too good of an athlete to not be on the field. When thinking of him, Jerry Porter comes to mind. Once he found his position, he shined.

So much for Slaton's prediction that Crest will be the starter.

I wouldn't write Crest off as a QB just yet, long time til September and he is still a pup as far as his career but, to be fair, he DID look solid at WR Saturday and I liked what I saw from Sills and Chugs too for that matter. I think Sills has a chance to be an under rated dual threat guy. I really like his running style, just have to work on that delivery and arm strength a bit but considering he was playing HS ball a few months ago, not bad at all.

Now you are quoting Lou Holtz:dhd:

I think the Spring ball speaks volumes. Howard is very inconsistent but has still beat out Crest. As Chugs and Sills learn the offense, Crest will drop down the depth chart. He appears to be more suited for a spread option type of offense than the air raid.

Now if Chugs and Sills dont

Keep in mind that a lot of people thought that converted WR Logan Moore looked like our best QB out of spring last year at this time. Mario Alford was our biggest offensive threat.

Remember when Coley White played QB for both teams? How'd that work out for him?
