Figured I'd drop a photo now and then. Eventually, I'm going to be able to post a pointing pic. When we got him, in late January, he was slightly smaller than the Yorkie.

You bring that pup down to Texas anytime, I have 25 sections of good Quail country that we can run him on.

What are you hunting for? I live in huge duck hunting area and Labs are the preferred breed here. I hunt wild pheasants and the labs do well with those also.

I'm in Southern New England so our upland wild birds are grouse and woodcock and we stock pheasants on our gun club. They're also stocked by the state in wildlife management areas.

I hunt geese in corn fields so no dog necessary. It would be nice to be able to jump river ducks but I can't have a lab and my heart is with flushing birds from under point so I have the setter.

He is the sweetest dog I've ever owned and for a puppy very well behaved. He asks to go out so it's nice to have him fully housebroken now.

Nice looking pup, NEhomer. Happy for you.

You hunt woodcock. Weird birds. I've not hunted them, but witnessing the males' air dancing during breeding season is something. I don't think any video can properly convey it, but this one's the best I could find.

Thanks Tin Man. Yeah, woodcock are freaky little things. Easy to swing on but so small it's not always easy to get a fatal pellet where it needs to go.

Then you dress 'em out for the table and basically, you're eating a goose the size of a golf ball.

He's starting to get the feathering on his tail. Couldn't be sweeter to walk with in the woods. Keeps checking in and never runs out of sight.

Cute dog. I use labs for pheasant. Pointers work okay but I hunt wild birds in a large area that are smart. Those birds run like hell. The labs trail them well.

Cool....you must do a lot of runnin' and gunnin'!

Just starting to Neb. I'm almost done constructing a pigeon trap and I have a local farm that's gonna let me set it out. Hopefully, I'll have a supply of birds to release in front of him. Honestly, he's so good about staying in range and obeying commands already that I'm really excited about how fine of a dog I can make of him. He turned exactly 4 months today. He's as well behaved as any adult dog I've owned; truly remarkable.

LOL, pheasants on private ag lands are almost gone in california. Populations very low in most areas of the state. I hunt on the state refuges. They are large areas of grasslands and if the conditions are dry, those birds run like hell. I've seen twenty or thirty roosters run and jump way out in front of the people driving. Not like the planted birds on some of the clubs around here. You have to kick them to get them to flush.

I've only seen video of a dozen or two pheasants busting out of the end of the crops...must be amazing. We have only the planted, pretty much have to kick 'em up type. Though in the rain, Stocked pheasants will run like chickens.

Yet another upside to this pup is how much my wife has fallen in love with him. She's a photographer and so she's literally taken hundreds of pictures of him

Oh man, if you're in central MA, you're only an hour away...consider it an open invite mister. We'll gun a few birds and then have a couple of cold ones watching the Sound FX of the Superbowl!

Here's a pic from yesterday.
