I talked the crazy blond into letting the patch grow out recently, but it ain't jungle fever shit and it won't ever get like that. Variety is the spice of life, no?

Hell yes, Rex! I used to say that shit on FN and folks would say I was insane. Can't believe we never discussed this.

Dole's probably feverously calling HammerDown, "Prease, Hamma, I beg of you, PREASE BAN SRINKY!"

I think it did come up in conversation once or twice and I'm all in on the "Tart au poille".

Dole has twice as many friends here on the Hoop as he did over at FN.

Dole doesn't rat out anybody, even a worthless piece of excrement like you, fool.

Oh, God. You're speaking in the 3rd person now?

I'm actually kind of glad to see you. I remember every year or two you would say something pretty funny and I'm wondering if you're due soon. Then again, I suppose it's possible that I missed it.

That should be fun. I had a chance to walk part of Pebble Beach about 10 years ago (could have played, but didn't want to part with $500 for one round) and I'd love to see Augusta National too. To me those are the two most iconic courses in the country.

Was able to walk around Pebble Beach myself a few years back when the mrs and I visited CA during our 25 wedding anniversary. Some of the most majestic views I have ever seen.
PB...I would've forked it over...it's silly I know, but there are about 5 bucket list golf courses on my radar...I know several people that have played AN, but it's so freakin privileged that I haven't even considered it.

True story that I like to share from time to time and probably already have on this venue but it is worth a second reading.

In 85, my wife and I are excited in planning our very first two week vacation. It included Disney World, Sea World and a 5 day stop at my sister in law's place in Martinez GA, which is a suburb of Augusta. We were talking about our plans one night during a visit to my in laws and my father in law (GOD rest his soul) leans over and tells me that for $100, I can become a one day member at Augusta National entitling me to a round of golf. I just about sported a woody hearing that so obviously decided on bringing my clubs. The entire drive down, I am fantasizing all these spectacular shots I was going to make with a final tip of the hat as I am approaching the 18th green

We finally get to my sister in laws house and I cleaned the slate of activities for the day so I could play. I pull into Magnolia Lane in my 77 LTD wagon with the yankee plates and immediately I am waved over to a turn around by the guard. He politely asks "May I help you sir?" I explained to him that I am here for the one day membership to which he responds "Sir?" I told him what my father in law told me and he said, "I'm afraid your father in law is mistaken" he said with a slight grin. "Only members and guests of the members are allowed on the grounds, much less playing the course" I asked him how much is a membership. He gives my wagon a slow once over, looks me in the eye and says "sir, if you have to ask, you cannot afford it. You have a pleasant day now"

I drove off feeling outraged at first but after a while when I cooled down, I laughed out loud on how I was duped. My father in law "punked" me years before that phrase became popular

Greens fees would have been $360. Add in the mandatory cart ($75) or caddy ($75 +tip) and lunch and my buddy and I decided to play a couple of rounds elsewhere. We decided that we weren't good enough to justify the expense.

We did take the wives to lunch in the clubhouse and we walked some of the back nine. Stunning beauty on the Monterey Peninsula for sure.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not that well heeled...$500 is a lot of scratch, but it wouldn't be entirely about the golf...the whole experience...one of those once in a lifetime type deals. In fact...we've mapped out Spy Glass, and one other track to complete the trip and we've factored about $2k for the whole trip.

You could easily blow $2k in Vegas in a weekend, but that's not really my cup of tea.

Now that was down right cruel...to a golfer...cold bloodied actually.

I've played some really outstanding tracks, but none of the iconic ones yet and now that the kids are "almost" gone...I'm getting the itch to scratch off some of my bucket list.

Stoked as all hell. I haven't been there for about 10 years so really looking forward to it.

I hope the weather is nice. The last time I went, they had record cold temps and it rained so much that the par 3 tournament was cancelled.
I'll be there on Wednesday for the Par 3 tournament and practice round. I can't wait.

15 years ago was my first visit to the course. I was lucky enough to get 4 tix for each of the practice rounds so was looking to unload the Monday and Tuesday rounds. So my brother in law and I are driving down the main drag where the course is located and see quite a few people with signs stating they are looking for tickets. We pull up to one guy and tell him we have 4 tickets for each of the practice rounds and ask him what he would be interested in. He hems and haws then finally says, I'll give you $1,000 for either Mon or Tues or $1,500 for Wed. My brother in law almost shit in our pants but played it cool. We told him we will get back to him if we don't find a better deal.

Now mind you, I only paid $60 for Mon and Tues and $100 for Wednesday. We had no idea that the market was that lucrative. We drove around and got a bid for $2,000 for Wednesday but still did not sell them yet. We went back to his house and were telling the wives and my sister in law said that she heard employees of Augusta are stationed all around the course posing as people looking for tickets. If you sold them to one of the employees, they would track the ticket numbers back to the original owner and that person would be permanently banned from purchasing tickets. I didn't want to put myself into that position as I still want a tournament badge sometime in my life so didn't want to risk it. Instead, my brother in law knew someone who who worked for a local event planning company that sells tournament packages to people to include lodging, access to certain on site events and tickets. Apparently this guy was in dire need of tickets so I sold him the Tues and Wed tickets for $1,800 in cash. Plenty enough to pay for our entire trip, a shit load of souvenirs plus a good chunk of change to bring home. I bad no idea that those tickets were so much in demand and to this day, I hear from my nephews stories of people they know making thousands of dollars selling tickets.

I do regret selling the Wednesday tickets to attend the par 3 context though. Have been trying to get those tickets ever since.

Have fun brother

I've been 3 times...never on Wed...Tues twice and had a Tourney badge one year (the corporate house were we got our badge from) are stocked to the HILT, prawns, lobster, filets...your libation of choice...then we walked over a block across the street and thru the gates.

Boy did I get to see how the privileged live for that weekend! We also had a badge for the year the Canadian lefty won and actually turned it down...wet, and mud was all I saw on TV on Thurs and Fri and we passed.

You have to love the Masters...the lady who runs the corporate hospitality house says they rent that house for $40k for the week and it's one of the cheaper ones. A small modest home...location, location, location...uh...even though the ultra rich and super connected are members, that event has made a lot of normal Joes a ton of money!

I've been to PGA Championship and US Open practice rounds in the past. They're pretty interesting. The pros trying out the different angles and such. See some wicked crazy shots you wouldn't otherwise normally see. You get to appreciate how creative they can be.

Nicely done! I don't think I would have taken a chance on selling them to a possible employee either. You took the best option. I found out I was going last May and have been excited about it ever since. I'm going to be coming back with a lot of souvineers and memories. Hope you enjoy it as well.

I was there in 2013 and the weather was great. There is no other place quite like Augusta National.
